Marcus + Melissa
The love story of Marcus and Melissa started in high school. Marcus says they got to know each other better in physics and that it was the love of science that caused the equal and opposite reaction of their love for each other. They had their first date at the mall when they were just 16 and 17.
How cute is that?!
The wedding took place on a snowy day — February 17 — at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY.
I loved the way they described love and marriage.
Marcus told me that he knew Melissa was that person when he realized that she shared the same idea that it’s better to work through something than to throw it away. Marcus wanted to be a part of Melissa’s life forever when he realized they could make it through anything by listening and trying.
Melissa said that marriage is a partnership between two people who agree to learn and grow together as they navigate through life. Marriage is just as much about working through the disagreements as it is enjoying the fun and happy times.
They also tied a fisherman’s knot, a true lover’s knot, as part of their ritual. It is the strongest knot there is; its bond will not break and instead will become stronger under strain.
All the love to Marcus and Melissa!
